What are Validations?

Introduction

Validation is the process used to confirm whether recorded conversions should be approved, remain pending, or be rejected. This ensures commission is only paid for eligible conversions in line with the campaign requirements.

How the Process Works

  1. A conversion is tracked and recorded in the Optimise platform.
  2. The conversion remains in a pending status for the agreed validation period.
  3. The advertiser reviews the conversion details against its own records.
  4. The conversion is assigned one of the following statuses:
    • Pending – The conversion is awaiting review.
    • Approved – The conversion has been accepted.
    • Rejected – The conversion has been declined. A rejection reason should be provided where applicable. See Validations & Enquiries.
  5. Optimise processes the validation data to update reporting, invoice advertisers for approved conversions, and pay publishers for validated conversions. For more information, see Validations & Enquiries.

What Is Usually Checked

During validation, advertisers typically review:

  • Whether the transaction was completed successfully.
  • Whether the order was cancelled or returned.
  • Whether the transaction was duplicated.
  • Whether the conversion can be matched to a valid order or action recorded by the advertiser.

Why Validation Matters

Validation is important because it:

  • Helps ensure commissions are paid correctly.
  • Provides publishers with a clear outcome for recorded conversions.
  • Reduces disputes by supplying clear statuses and rejection reasons.
  • Supports accurate reporting for advertisers and publishers.
